Mariah Carey ‘Incredibly Honored’ by Second Consecutive Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nomination: ‘This Means So Much’
Mariah Carey is hoping that this year, the honor becomes a reality. The iconic singer-songwriter celebrated her second consecutive nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday (Feb. 13), sharing her excitement and gratitude with fans on Instagram.
“I’m so grateful to be recognized for the second year in a row,” Carey wrote. “It’s always an incredible honor to be mentioned alongside so many legendary artists I admire. Thank you to the @rockhall and, of course, to my amazing fans—you are the heart of everything I do. This means so much! ❤️🎶”
Carey has been eligible for induction into the prestigious Hall of Fame since 2016, but she didn’t receive her first nomination until last year. Despite her undeniable impact on the music industry as one of the best-selling artists of all time, she fell short of induction in 2024 when she was nominated alongside now-inducted artists like Cher, Jimmy Buffett, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews, Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Frampton, Dionne Warwick, Kool & the Gang, MC5, Foreigner, and A Tribe Called Quest.
This year, Carey once again finds herself among an impressive roster of nominees for the Class of 2025. The lineup includes rock and pop legends such as Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Maná, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
Known for her five-octave vocal range, timeless hits, and record-breaking achievements, Carey has been a dominant force in the music industry for over three decades. From her early chart-topping singles like Vision of Love and Hero to modern classics such as We Belong Together and the holiday juggernaut All I Want for Christmas Is You, her influence spans generations and genres.
Beyond her Hall of Fame nomination, Carey continues to captivate audiences. She is currently wrapping up her Celebration of Mimi residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, with two special Valentine’s weekend performances on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15.
Fans will have to wait until late April to find out whether Carey secures her spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as the official Class of 2025 inductees will be announced then. The Hall typically separates honorees into categories such as performers, musical excellence, and musical influence. The highly anticipated Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place this fall in Los Angeles.
With her legendary career and unwavering fan support, will 2025 finally be the year Mariah Carey gets her well-deserved place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Fans will be eagerly watching and hoping that this time, the honor is hers to claim.
